Principal's Welcome
Welcome to RBHS!
It is an exciting time at Rock Bridge High School! The 2013-2014 school year has been anticipated for many years and it is finally here: RBHS welcomes freshmen for the first time! This is the most significant among many changes we will be navigating throughout this year, but we are up for the challenge. Personally, I am thrilled to be serving Rock Bridge in a new way. As a Rock Bridge graduate, former mathematics teacher and coach, and most recently assistant principal and athletic director, I will spend my first year as principal at my “home”. At Rock Bridge, we have a proud tradition of embracing change and we will get to do this on a broad scale this year. Our students, faculty, staff, and families will all work together to continue to thrive and provide outstanding experiences and high quality learning.
Rock Bridge is a student-centered comprehensive high school where students achieve at high levels. The unique culture at Rock Bridge features a commitment to shared decision-making, collaboration, and a focus on student learning. We offer an extensive, comprehensive curriculum balancing a strong core-curriculum and a wide range of elective options, each including Advanced Placement offerings. Our passionate staff regularly engages in interdisciplinary and content specific collaboration through Shared Planning and Professional Learning Teams. Our commitment to student learning and professional growth is unmatched.
Rock Bridge students rise to meet the challenge of high expectations. We believe that during the high school years, students should be empowered to take advantage of the opportunities for learning and experience. Each year we have students earn National Merit Commended Scholar, Semi-Finalists, and Finalists status. Many students have scored perfect on the ACT and SAT. Rock Bridge students boast averages on the ACT of over 24 and over 80% of our students score a 3 or better on their Advanced Placement exams. Our students consistently achieve at high levels.
Students and staff are involved outside of the classroom through athletic and academic teams, over 50 clubs, and a variety of ways to be involved in our community and world through community service. Each of our athletic teams compete at the highest levels, students in the spirit club, the “Bru Crew,” enthusiastically support our teams, and students in our Performing Arts programs deliver polished performances that delight and entertain audiences of all ages. One example of our community service opportunities for students is “Rock Bridge Reaches Out,” an award-winning program, which includes a membership of over 500 Rock Bridge students, serving organizations such as the Cedar Creek Therapeutic Riding Center, The Central Missouri Food Bank, and the Ronald McDonald House.
We are fortunate to have strong parent and community support. Parents and community members dedicate hundreds of hours annually to booster groups that support students involved in performing arts, athletics, and academics. The Rock Bridge PTSA provides tremendous support to our school, teachers, and students and individual parents and families work quietly behind the scenes to insure the success of our students. In addition, our partnership with State Farm Insurance Company--our Partner in Education for over 25 years--is truly a mutually beneficial partnership.
Rock Bridge High School mission, “Where Learning is for Life”, is alive in our strong relationships, our focus on student learning, and our commitment to providing quality experiences for students.
