The Rock Bridge Model United Nation's Delegation did
absolutely amazing last week at the 51st Annual North Atlantic Invitation Model
United Nations hosted by Georgetown University. The competition drew over three
thousand students from all over the world to Washington D.C.. Rock Bridge
faced teams that utilize Model UN as a course where kids spend an hour or two
every day in preparation as part of their course work, and not (as is the case
to Rock Bridge) as a club where our students are able to prepare just a couple
of meetings a week after school. The Rock Bridge team consisting of seventeen
students competed brilliantly against teams of over fifty with much more
competition experience.
Eleven of our seventeen students placed:
Verbal Commendation (4th Place): Michael Pennella, Sydney
Tyler, Chandler Randol, Maaz Muhammad, and Sophi Farid;
Honorable Mention (3rd Place): Katy Shi, Whitney Cravens,
and Daniel Shapiro;
Outstanding Delegate (2nd Place): Adrian Siefkas and Sara
Ashbaugh;
Best Delegate (1st Place): Najeebah Hussain
Najeebah's accomplishment is only the second time in our
district's history that a student has achieved this accolade. She was
absolutely amazing as she assumed the role of a true diplomat.
